The beautiful neoclassical building of the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco has stood as a Nob Hill Landmark for over a hundred years. Having recently completed a $12.5 million renovation, this tranquil hotel in the heart of downtown San Francisco is a place for guests to experience the intimacy, exclusivity, and personalized attention to detail that are hallmarks of the Ritz-Carlton gold standard of hospitality.

Family Activities We Love

  • Under (and Over) the Sea
Ask the concierge to book a behind-the-scenes tour at the mesmerizing Aquarium of the Bay. Visit the holding tanks where new arrivals from the San Francisco Bay live until they’ve adapted to their new home. Kids will also love to traverse the catwalk above the tanks and see the “kitchen” where hundreds of pounds of food are prepped for the fish each week.
  • All Downhill from Here
Get an extra boost up the steep incline to the panoramic views on the Golden Gate Bridge. Guided electric bike tours give riders 16 and over a choice between pedaling, electric motor power, or both on 7-speed gear eco-friendly bikes. Once across the bridge, coast downhill all the way to the quaint town of Sausalito. Stop in Munchies Candy on Bridgeway where you can sample barrel after barrel of saltwater taffy before you hop the ferry back to Fisherman’s Wharf.
  • Come Sail Away
Feel the need for speed? There’s no better way to experience the Bay than to sail the famous USA76 America’s Cup racing yacht with legendary bowman Brad Webb. You’ll board the sleek, black ship at Pier 39. Guests then take turns manning the helm of the 85-foot vessel during a three-hour tour.
  • Pinkies Up!
If your stay at the Ritz-Carlton coincides with the holiday season, children and their favorite stuffed animals gather in front of the fireplace for the famous Teddy Bear Tea. Kids sip hot chocolate while listening to holiday stories, eat teddy bear cookies and assorted sandwiches, and sing along with special guests Santa and Stretchy the Elf (the tallest elf in the world!). Each child receives a small teddy bear gift to take home. Proceeds benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Romantic Activities We Love

  • Diamonds Are So Last Season
Stroll through iconic Gump’s in Union Square, an emporium of luxury gifts and artful objects from around the world. Experience the legendary jade and pearl jewelry collection. A personal shopper will take the guesswork out of finding the perfect gift for any occasion.
  • Prepare to Take Flight
The concierge will happily arrange a Mercedes to whisk you off to Sonoma for a romantic hot-air balloon flight over wine country. Float peacefully over redwood forests, rolling vineyards, and the Pacific Coast before gracefully sailing back to earth. Enjoy a champagne brunch at a local winery such as Trentadue or Kendall Jackson Wine Center.
  • Be a Homebody
Soothe your body and mind with a private spa environment in the comfort of your own suite. Experience an integrated massage for two, including Swedish, aromatherapy, deep tissue, and pressure point styles. Relax in a fragrant bath with rose petals and aphrodisiac salts, surrounded by candles. Champagne and strawberries complete the mood.
  • Zing Went My Heartstrings
Ride a cable car “halfway to the stars” as Tony Bennett sang. You haven’t truly experienced San Francisco until you’ve taken an evening cable car ride and watched the fog rolling over Nob Hill. Catch the California cable car as it clangs its way right past the Ritz Carlton.
  • Hob Nob on Nob Hill
From sweet to spicy, bitter to dry, you won't have to go far to sample some of the most innovative cocktails mixed with only the best seasonal ingredients. The newly designed Parallel 37 restaurant adds an urban edge to the Ritz-Carlton while still maintaining its sophistication. Settle into an intimate dining space and prepare to taste the most delectable offerings along the geographic latitude Parallel 37.
